fearbook 2010

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project name: Fearbook

Technique: screenprinting

Size: ca. 25x25 cm

60 pages, hardcover

Fearbook is a 100% handmade book. I went through the whole process: designing, hand-printing, cutting paper and putting the pages together (with priceless help of Mr Gabriel). It contains simple drawings, photography, personal graphic signs and short sentences, which are a visual response to anxiety. In order to emphasize the intensity of emotions, the pallette is limited to four contrasting colours: red, blue, black and white.

Although its name refers to Facebook, a popular social networking website, Fearbook is rather a collection of the faces of fear dressed up in a visual metaphor. It is an attempt at visual record of the states of mind associated with a disease. An aesthetic study of anxiety. A nice souvenir of painful experience. A picture confession of an emotional illiterate.
